Meet Robyn, an American solo female Explorer, who blew up on social media after sharing a TikTok about her Journee trip. Robyn went on her trip before we launched in the US, so she had to make her own way to London to start her Journee. Now, we offer flights from 15 US airports, and we’re looking forward to launching even more in months to come. She was matched to Greece, spending 7 days uncovering the rich history of Athens and the immense beauty of Meteora.

What made you decide to book your Journee trip?

I was looking for a unique but safe way to travel as a solo female and I saw someone post a video about how they did that with Journee. I read some really positive reviews and decided I wanted to try it out! I loved that I didn't have to plan much beyond where I wanted to eat that day. It took a huge part of the stress out of travelling so I could just enjoy the trip.

Did you guess your destination? What were your thoughts after the reveal?

I think I guessed it a week or two before I left, but I was only 70% sure it was Greece. I thought for a while it was maybe Croatia or Portugal. I was so thrilled when I found out it was Greece, I'm a big history nerd and was so excited to get to see this place I've read about for years!

What was your favourite part of your trip?

Gaining confidence as a solo female traveller. I met lots of amazing people who made me realize it's not actually that scary or challenging to do big things by myself. I'm glad I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and did this. I met some really fun people (a mom and daughter) from Australia while I was getting sandals and we started chatting about lots of stuff. The mom ended up taking pictures of me and WhatsApping them over which was so sweet cause I am terrible at asking to have pictures of me taken, let alone from strangers! So now I have some lovely photos of me getting fitted for sandals that I wouldn’t have otherwise had!

Did you try anything new?

I tried several new things - I didn't want to miss out on anything because I was nervous about doing it. I don't like olives, but I had an amazing olive salad the first night in Greece. I've never been wine tasting and was afraid I'd look a little dumb but went anyway and had a great time. I navigated international travel and international public transit by myself for the first time which was slightly terrifying.

How do you feel about travel now? Do you have any upcoming solo adventures planned?

Like I said earlier, it's given me so much confidence knowing I can travel by myself, and I don't have to be scared or nervous the whole time. It's made me want to take smaller trips more frequently and not miss out on little experiences just because nobody is able or willing to join me. I'm planning a trip to New Orleans and possibly Cancun next summer, but after that who knows! I've done a lot of international travel, and I'd like to spend some time exploring the US now!
